Problems with uploading .mp4

Hi. Wonder if anyone knows the reason for this.

I'm trying to upload .mp4's, but receive an error message sometimes (more often then not).
I'm not that well travelled in the world of video file extensions, so not sure what to do here.






The unfunny thing is that some .mp4's seems to be uploaded without any problems at all? Like the one below.



Any guesses are welcome, is it something I can do at my side or something wrong with my files? I can play them locally, just not upload them.

And sorry if this has been asked before, I made a search but couldn't find a similar question (I didn't read all threads with .mp4 to be honest).

Getting the same problem here today. Try to upload MP4s and get the thumbnail error

Not all MP4's are the same.
If a video is encoded with a codec that isn't compatible with regular web video players (x265|HEVC for example), then it will probably throw up an error.

I also noticed that an error might get thrown up if the file name has non-standard Unicode characters, like emojis, Cyrillic alphabet, Chinese symbols etc. For example, Instagram videos that have smileys in the titles won't upload or throw up an error, but deleting those characters fixes that.
Remove this type of stuff and/or rename the file and they work.
